About Us.
Provena Consortium is built on the power of connection. Together, we are turning shared data, expertise, and participation into discoveries that can improve health for all.
Who We Are.
Provena Consortium is a community data asset accelerating the path from research question to discovery. Developed and governed by a coalition of leading institutions, including life sciences companies, health systems, and community partners. We’re connecting researchers to data and participants to advance discovery and improve health outcomes for our community and beyond.
Our growing platform combines whole-genome sequencing linked to longitudinal clinical data and recallable participants: a trial-ready resource that can be used by researchers to advance discoveries in human health, including re-contacting participants for clinical trials through a partnership with Indiana University and the Indiana Biobank. Together, we’re transforming data and accelerating discovery.
Our Mission.
Provena Consortium connects participant data, researchers, and leading institutions through a trusted health data platform to advance health outcomes.
Every new participant, question, cohort, and use case builds upon one another, creating a living ecosystem for revolutionary discoveries.
Our comprehensive approach to whole-genome sequencing and deep longitudinal clinical data enables researchers to develop questions that would take years in a standard process.
Pre-consented participants can be recontacted for follow-up studies, accelerating the path from data to meaningful improvements in health.
Our Consortium Partners.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Eli Lilly and Company is a global healthcare leader that develops medicines for patients around the world. Lilly helps identify research and industry use cases and provides matching grant support, helping focus Provena on important questions and practical applications.
IU Health is Indiana’s largest healthcare system and only academic medical center in the state. IU Health supports participant engagement, clinical workflows, laboratory operations, and data integration. These contributions help connect participants, samples, and clinical information for approved research.
Indiana University is one of the nation’s leading public research universities and is home to the largest medical school in the United States. Through IU LAB, IU School of Medicine, and the Indiana Biobank, IU supports participant consent, sample collection and storage, genomic sequencing, and researcher support. IU provides much of the scientific expertise and infrastructure needed to operate and expand Provena.

Indiana Health Information Exchange is a national leader in health data sharing and operates one of the country’s largest and most comprehensive clinical data repositories. Through the Indiana Network for Patient Care, IHIE connects clinical information from healthcare providers across Indiana. This helps create a more complete view of participants’ health over time.
CICP brings together leaders from industry, higher education, and philanthropy to advance Indiana. Through AnalytiXIN and BioCrossroads, CICP provides leadership and coordination across Provena. It brings partners together, aligns priorities, and helps move Provena from development to broad research and industry use.

Purdue University is a world-renowned public research university that advances discovery in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Purdue provides advisory guidance as Provena is developed. It is also contributing early research use cases to test the asset and show how it can be applied.
Indiana Biosciences Research Institute is an independent, nonprofit translational medicine institute that helps move scientific discoveries toward new treatments. IBRI provides scientific and strategic guidance as Provena is developed. It is also developing early use cases that test the asset against real-world research questions.
Regenstrief Institute is an internationally recognized research organization and a leader in biomedical informatics, health data standards, and health services research. Regenstrief provides guidance based on its expertise in health data and research. It is also contributing early use cases to test the asset and demonstrate its value, while supporting clinical data intake alongside IU Health.
